Bitcoin Cash - some people working on the Bitcoin project did not agree with the direction of the project, so a "hard fork" was initiated and Bitcoin Cash was formed. Bitcoin Cash can verify transactions faster than Bitcoin. https://bch.info/
-
Cardano - Cardano's currency is ADA and it uses a unique consensus algorithm that validates transactions without high energy costs. This is appealing because some activities, like Bitcoin mining, consume large amounts of energy. https://cardano.org
-
Celo - the core utility, reserve, staking, and governance asset for the Celo platform. It is focused on mobile phone use. https://celo.org/
-
Chainlink - Chainlink (LINK) is used for smart contracts. It was founded in 2017 and is an Ethereum token that powers the Chainlink decentralized oracle network. https://chain.link/

-
Dai - Dai is a stablecoin that tries to maintain a value of $1.00. If you sell some crypto and want to leave in parked in cash for a period of time until a good buying opportunity comes along Dai is an option. Dai is not backed by USD, instead, it is backed by collateral on the Maker platform. https://makerdao.com/en/
-
Dash - Dash uses regular miners, plus miners with higher priority (referred to as Masternodes). Its market cap is a little over $2 billion as I write this in March of 2021. https://www.dash.org/

-
district0x - Ethereum token that allows community members to "vote" with tokens via the District Registry. https://district0x.io/
-
Dogecoin - one of the most well-known cryptocurrencies. Dogecoin was created as a joke by two software engineers and is based on an Internet meme made about a Japanese dog breed (Shiba Inu). Despite its low price, it has a fairly large market cap. https://dogecoin.com/
-
EOS - EOS was designed to support large-scale applications. There are no fees to send or receive EOS. The protocol rewards the entities that run the network periodically with new EOS. This is similar in some ways to Bitcoin miners earning Bitcoin as they verify transactions. https://eos.io/
-
Ethereum - Ether (ETH) is the currency and Ethereum is the computing platform that uses Ether. Ether is used to pay transaction fees (also called "gas"). https://ethereum.org/en/
-
Ethereum Classic - Ethereum forked in 2016, leaving behind the "original" project, which became known as Ethereum. https://ethereumclassic.org/
-
Kyber Network - The Kyber Network is a protocol that is designed to make trading digital assets and cryptocurrencies simple and efficient. KNC is the currency. https://kyber.network/
-
Litecoin - Litecoin has a faster payment confirmation schedule than Bitcoin (2.5 minutes instead of 10 minutes) and uses a different cryptographic algorithm. https://litecoin.org/
-
Loopring - an inexpensive Ethereum token that describes itself as “an open-sourced, audited, and non-custodial exchange protocol.” It aims to allow anyone to build non-custodial, order book-based exchanges on Ethereum by leveraging zero-knowledge proofs. https://loopring.org/
-
Maker - Maker is an Ethereum token that describes itself as “a utility token, governance token, and recapitalization resource of the Maker system.” Maker is tied to Dai, a stablecoin that tries to maintain a value of $1.00. https://makerdao.com/en/
-
Monero - if any cryptocurrency is laser focused on privacy it is Monero. With the rise of crypto, the implosion of certain cryptos such as Luna, and the collapse of exchanges like Sam Bankman-Fried's FTX, the government is concerned about money laundering, and other crimes that could be committed utilizing crypto as a way to move money. Monero doesn't care. Their philosophy is basically: "It's your money, and nobody has a right to know how you spend it." https://www.getmonero.org/
